No. 2 Florida State suffering historic loss against No. 10 Louisville

When a team is ranked No. 2 in the country, it isn’t supposed to lose by 40-plus points.
However, that’s what happened to Florida State on Saturday against No. 10 Louisville.
The Cardinals scored early and often and led 63-17 over the Seminoles late in the fourth quarter.
The 46-point margin of defeat would be the second-worst loss ever suffered by a No. 2 team:
In case you are curious, the worst loss EVER by a Top-2 team is 48-0 by No. 2 Notre Dame vs No. 1 Army in 1945. 46 would be 2nd worst

The largest margin of defeat in FSU history was 49 points and it came in a 1973 game against Florida.
Saturday was also a historically inept day for the Florida State defense:
FSU has allowed 60+ points for the first time in school history

It’s safe to say Florida State is in for quite the drop in the AP and Coaches polls this week.
