No SEC school has sent more players to the Super Bowl in NFL history than Tennessee

With Derek Barnett on location in Minnesota set to play in Super Bowl LII for the Eagles, Tennessee has now been represented in the last nine Super Bowls.
That mark doesn’t lead all SEC programs, as Georgia and LSU have both sent players to the Super Bowl for 17 consecutive seasons — representing the high mark in the league. However, Barnett’s trip to the NFL’s big game does help Tennessee extend one important SEC record, as the Volunteers have sent 61 players to the Super Bowl since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
That mark is the best in the SEC and second only to Miami’s 62 — according to the research of NFL.com.
Georgia is the next closest SEC program to Tennesse, as the Bulldogs have sent 47 players to the Super Bowl — tied for 12th best. Florida is at No. 14 with 46, Alabama and LSU are tied for No. 15 with 40 all-time Super Bowl participants.
Those five SEC programs are the only ones to rank in the top 20.
