Notre Dame released a statement on Wednesday afternoon assuring that all of its team personnel are accounted for and to offer its thoughts and prayers in the aftermath of the tragedy in New Orleans that has killed at least 10 people and injured dozens of others.

The school also said it will continue to stay in close contact with local police, as well as Sugar Bowl and College Football Playoff representatives. The Fighting Irish were originally scheduled to play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday night, but the game has been postponed for 24 hours until Thursday night because of public safety concerns.

Notre Dame also released a statement regarding the tragedy, which said in part:

Our prayers are with the family members and loved ones of all those impacted by the terrible attack in New Orleans early this morning.

“We also pray for all those injured and extend our deepest gratitude to the brave first responders who risked their lives to protect others.

“To be in solidarity with those who suffer is to exemplify the spirt of Notre Dame. Today, we are in solidarity with all those impacted by this tragedy.

As it stands now, the Fighting Irish and Bulldogs will play their CFP quarterfinal at 8:45 p.m. ET on Thursday night, 24 hours after the originally scheduled kickoff at 8:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday night.
