Riley Leonard and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish looked like a different team coming out of halftime.

The Irish, which fell behind 10-3 after the first 30 minutes of play, drove 75 yards in just 8 plays to start the 3rd quarter, culminating in a 3-yard touchdown rush from Riley Leonard. Suddenly we have a tie ballgame, knotted at 10 with just over 10 minutes remaining in the 3rd.

Check it out below:

This is the first time Notre Dame has had even a semblance of an offense so far in Miami. The Fighting Irish rushed for under 40 yards in the first half, but they doubled that number in just one drive to start the second half.

But it wasn’t all run plays. Riley Leonard also competed his longest pass of the night, hitting Aneyas Williams for a 36-yard completion on 1st and 10. He now sits at 99 passing yards.

Jeremiyah Love looked more like his usual self on the first drive of the second half, too. Love was running angry and totaled 24 yards across 3 runs – 14 more yards than he totaled in the first half combined.

Penn State has controlled the line of scrimmage to this point in the game, but can the Irish swing momentum back in their favor? However it plays out, it looks like we’re in for a strong finish.
