Notre Dame is having a quarterback battle to replace Riley Leonard, after the former quarterback led the Fighting Irish to the national championship game. Steve Angeli was 1 of those guys battling with the job, but opted for the transfer portal.
On Wednesday, he announced that he will continue his career playing for coach Fran Brown and the Syracuse Orange.
Angeli saw time in 5 games last season, even attempting a throw in the national title game against Ohio State. While didn’t play a ton, he was able to contribute during his 2 seasons at Notre Dame. He completed 58-of-80 passes for 772 yards, 10 touchdowns and only 1 interception during his time in South Bend.
Like the Fighting Irish, the Orange are having to replace a star quarterback. Last year Kyle McCord led Syracuse to 10 wins while throwing for 4,779 yards and 34 touchdowns.
At Syracuse, Angeli will be in a battle with LSU transfer Rickie Collins for the position. Angeli is known more as a passer, but Collins can be very dynamic with his legs, as well.
The Orange had a phenomenal turn around under coach Brown, and finding another gem transfer quarterback could set the team up for another great season.
