Oklahoma guard appears to shatter multiple teeth while diving for loose ball
Oklahoma senior guard Duke Miles didn’t score that many points, and he didn’t even dent the stat sheet that much on Saturday afternoon.
But he helped the struggling Sooners upset No. 21 Mississippi State 93-87 in Norman, and he was even willing to pay a steep price while doing it. It didn’t involve any type of typical injury though.
Instead, Miles’s max efforts appeared to come at the cost of multiple teeth after smacking his head on the court while diving for a loose ball with a little under 7 minutes left in Saturday’s game.
Miles laid on the court after the play while trainers attended to him — and seemingly collected loose teeth from the court. His effort typified that of his team, which rose up on Saturday in the stunning victory after losing 5 in a row as it sits near the bottom of the SEC standings.
Miles, who is a starter, incredibly returned to the game and managed just 3 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist in the contest. He didn’t even attempt a shot all day and his 3 points were on free throws — including 1 crucial free throw in the final minute.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma finally got that elusive win to improve to 17-10 overall and 4-10 in the SEC.
