Oklahoma is preparing to face off against Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl. Ahead of that matchup, the team has been busy with the dealings of the transfer portal.

On Wednesday afternoon, the team added wide receiver Javonnie Gibson from Arkansas Pine-Bluff. Then, on Wednesday night, the team added another WR in Keontez Lewis from Southern Illinois.

“All the good I manifested came true,” said Lewis in his official announcement post.

Lewis has had a tumultuous college career. He started at UCLA where he would last just 11 games. After that season in Los Angeles, Lewis transferred to Wisconsin where he spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Through 14 games with the Badgers, Lewis caught 21 passes for 325 yards and 3 TDs.

Before the 2024 season, Lewis transferred to the FCS Southern Illinois Saluikis. In his lone season with the team, Lewis caught 49 passes for 790 yards and 5 TDs. The impressive performance caught the attention of FBS schools, so now the Sooners will give Lewis his 3rd chance at college football’s highest level.

In high school, Lewis was rated as a 3-star prospect. The 247Sports Composite ranking had Lewis as the No. 72 WR and No. 11 prospect out of Illinois in the 2021 class. Lewis committed to UCLA over offers from Illinois, Auburn, and Arkansas, among others.

The Sooners are hoping to rebuild a WR room that was decimated by injuries in 2024. Six Oklahoma receivers have entered the portal already, so quality depth is needed for 2025.
