Oklahoma softball defeated Clemson 9-2 on Friday afternoon in Game 1 of the Norman Super Regional.

This victory puts the Sooners just 1 win away from reaching the Women’s College World Series. No. 1 Oklahoma has reached that stage in every NCAA Tournament since 2016.

Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead, scoring 1 run in each of the first 2 innings. However, it was Haley Lee who delivered the knock-out punch with a grand-slam that punctuated a 5-run 5th inning.

Here’s a clip of Lee’s blast:

Alyssa Brito and Cydney Sanders also homered in this game.

In the circle, ace Jordy Bahl scattered 8 hits and just 1 earned run across 5.1 innings of work. Bahl also struck out 6 batters while walking none. Alex Storako entered the game in relief and pitched the final 1.2 frames.

Oklahoma and Clemson will face off again on Saturday in Game 2 of the Norman Super Regional. A win would send the Sooners through to Oklahoma City. If Clemson wins Game 2, it would force a winner-take-all game on Sunday.
