Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin are gearing for the 2025 season as they are going through their spring practices. This is the time when Kiffin and his staff are starting to figure out the depth chart and what they have heading into next season.
However, in college football, preparing for the future is also a huge part of that, as the 2026 recruiting battles are starting to heat up. The Rebels got some big news on Sunday, when they beat out SEC foes such as Auburn and Georgia to land a commitment from 3-star running back Ja’Michael Jones.
Jones, who is from Alabama, is rated a 3-star prospect in the 2026 class. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is the No. 21 prospect in the state and the No. 35 running back in the class. Overall, he is the 494th prospect in the class.
Besides Georgia and Auburn, he also had offers from other schools such as Alabama, Ohio State and Oregon.
The Rebels last year made some big moves in the portal, and right now, the 2026 class isn’t what you would expect from the Rebels. It is currently the No. 48 class in the country, with Jones being only the third player to commit. Wide receiver Jameson Powell and athlete Zion Legree are the other two, and they are both also 3-star recruits.
