Former Ole Miss kicker Andy Pappanastos has left the Rebels, but he’s staying in the SEC West.
According to a report from WSFA 12, Pappanastos will join the Crimson Tide in 2016.
After grayshirting, redshirting and serving as a reserve during his time at Ole Miss, Pappanastos will have two years of remaining eligibility as he enters graduate school at Alabama.
Alabama’s starting kicker, Adam Griffith, will return in 2016, but Pappanastos told the news station that he was sought out by Nick Saban after sending out some film.
“He told me he was really excited to have a seasoned veteran,” said Pappanastos, after meeting with Saban on Friday. “He likes the fact that I already have experience kicking in the SEC.”
If nothing else, Pappanastos offers the Crimson Tide some depth at the kicking position.
