Ole Miss picked up a cornerback from the transfer portal on Saturday. According to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, former South Alabama defensive back Ricky Fletcher has committed to the Rebels.

Fletcher played 3 seasons with the Jaguars, seeing time in every game as a true freshman in 2022. In 2023, he moved into a starting role and again played in every game while being credited with 38 tackles (1.0 for a loss) and 12 passes defensed. He also recorded a fumble recovery.

He was poised to have a bigger impact within the Jaguars’ defense in 2024, but suffered a back injury that held him out for the entire season. On April 16, he entered the transfer portal as he sought a fresh start with a new program.

And on Saturday, Fletcher opted to sign with Ole Miss. It’s a return to his home state after a standout career at Holmes County High School in Mississippi, about 100 miles south of Oxford.

Fletcher is the second cornerback to pledge to Lane Kiffin’s program this spring. On Wednesday, Tavoy Feagin, a former 4-star recruit, signed with the Rebels after a season at Clemson.

In total, Ole Miss has landed 4 corners and 2 safeties out of the transfer portal this offseason. The class, which now includes 25 total transfer players, is rated by 247Sports as the third-best transfer haul in the country.
