Ole Miss, Mississippi State issue a statement asking for respectful scene

On Thanksgiving night, the annual Egg Bowl rivalry will be played between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
In recent years, the rivalry has risen in national prominence, and with that has come more hatred and vitriol between the two fan bases.
Even though the Rebels are serving a self-imposed bowl ban this year, it should still be an intense atmosphere in Starkville on Thursday. As a preemptive move to keep the fans in line, Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork and Mississippi State AD John Cohen released a joint statement urging fans to respect one another:
With Egg Bowl Week upon us, please join us in enjoying the tradition in a respectful and positive manner #HailState? pic.twitter.com/kXcozEiqT1

The Bulldogs have already clinched a bowl berth, while the Rebels are not eligible, but when these two teams get together, it doesn’t matter what the records are.
Hopefully nothing gets out of hand during Thursday’s game, but it is sure to be a hard-fought battle on the field.
