Ole Miss continued its climb back up the Associated Press rankings Sunday, moving up to No. 19 after an impressive 38-17 win over LSU in Oxford Saturday. The Rebels were No. 25 a week ago.

The Rebels (8-3, 5-2 in the SEC) are still holding out hope for a visit to the SEC Championship Game. They need a win over Mississippi State on Saturday and an Alabama loss to Auburn to get there. Crazier things have happened.

Alabama is No. 2 in the AP Poll. Florida is No. 10 and Mississippi State is No. 23.

The highest the  Rebels have been ranked in the AP Poll this season was No. 3. That was back in September after their big win over Alabama.  They dropped a little after their first loss to Florida, but then dropped a lot after losses to Memphis and Arkansas, falling out of the rankings completely. The Rebels re-emerged last week at No. 25.

In the Coaches Poll, Mississippi checked in at No. 19, up six spots from a week ago. Alabama is the highest ranked SEC team in the Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 2. Florida is ninth and Mississippi State – the Rebels’ opponent this week in the Egg Bowl, is at No. 22. LSU fell out of the poll for the first time all year after its third straight loss.
