Pierce Clarkson has decided to look to play elsewhere after a brief time with the Ole Miss football program.

Multiple outlets are reporting that the Louisville transfer quarterback has decided to re-enter the portal.

Clarkson arrived at Ole Miss in January and took part in spring practice with Lane Kiffin‘s team. It appears he won’t be with the Rebels for the 2025 season.

At Louisville, Clarkson saw limited playing time. In 2024, he made just 2 appearances. He logged just 4 rushes and 4 passing attempts with minimal productivity. Clarkson played in just 1 game during the 2023 season, allowing him to take a redshirt.

Clarkson presumably did not see a path to playing time at Ole Miss and is looking for an opportunity elsewhere. The Rebels return Austin Simmons, who is ready to step into the QB1 role after serving as Jaxson Dart’s backup in 2024. AJ Maddox is also on the roster, and the team added Division II All-American QB Trinidad Chambliss via the transfer portal in April.

Out of California powerhouse St. John Bosco, Clarkson was a 4-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite for the Class of 2023.
