Terio Brown had a momentary lapse in judgment Saturday.
And unfortunately for him, it cost his team on the scoreboard. Brown, a freshman running back for Texas Southern, fielded the opening kickoff of the second half inside the 2-yard line after the ball sailed over his head.
The only problem? He then let his momentum carry him into the end zone, where he downed the ball, resulting in a safety and two points for Florida A&M. The safety extended Florida A&M’s lead to 22-0.
The Rattlers went on to win 29-7 in the Jake Gaither Classic, which was contested at Bragg Stadium in Tallahasse, Florida.
For what it’s worth, Brown did field two other kickoffs successfully, ending the first game of his collegiate career with 14 yards.
