“Sources tell me that the Pac-12 has some interest in Tulane and Memphis from the AAC. There’s a bunch of other schools that they’re also considering,” Feldman said on Saturday morning.
After being raided itself in recent years, the Pac-12 is looking to regain some sort of stature in the college football landscape, and according to Feldman could raid the AAC to lure the 2 schools.
On Thursday, the Pac-12 announced it was adding 4 new members in 2026, with Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State joining the league in 2 years. The 4 new members, which are all currently part of the Mountain West Conference, will join Washington State and Oregon State in the Pac-12 in 2026.
That will get the conference to 6 schools. But to be recognized as an FBS conference starting in July 2026, it needs at least 8 members.
Feldman added that while UNLV makes sense as an addition, the Pac-12 would also likely have to take Nevada, which is run by the same school board.
A total of 10 schools left the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC ahead of the 2024 season.
