De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk broke a Sacramento Kings franchise record Friday night, combining to score 87 points in Sacramento’s 176-175 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in double overtime. That score sounds insane, because it is.
The Kings and Clippers’ barnburner ended with the 2nd highest combined point total in NBA history. The highest scoring remains a 186-184 triple overtime win by the Detroit Pistons over the Denver Nuggets in 1983.
Fox and Monk were instrumental in the win, becoming the first set of Kings teammates to both score 40 or more points in a single game. Fox finished with 42 points, 12 assists and 5 rebounds while Monk totaled 45 points and 6 assists.

Sacramento is well on its way to its best regular season finish since the early 2000s. The Kings currently sit at 3rd place in the western conference, 1.5 games behind the Grizzlies in 2nd place.
