Pat Kelsey gives hilarious answer to question about Louisville’s ‘challenging’ schedule
Pat Kelsey is still in his first season as Louisville’s head basketball coach, but he’s off to a strong start.
The Cardinals are just 6-4, but all 4 of their losses have come to teams in the top-45 in KenPom. They also have a couple of top-50 KenPom victories over Indiana and West Virginia, which represents a marked improvement over his predecessor.
With a matchup against Kentucky on deck, Kelsey was asked about how “challenging” Louisville’s schedule has been to this point in the year. To say he downplayed that idea would be an understatement.
“I mean, we get a bunch of free sneakers,” Kelsey said. “I wear sweatsuits to work. My kids are healthy, my wife’s hot. I got a pretty good life. We get to play college basketball. We get to play in the Yum! Center … My dad used to say it all the time, I would say, ‘Dad, you gotta go to work today?’ He’d say, ‘son, I get to go to work today.
“The schedule has been a little bit difficult and we had some adversity, but the guys have been awesome. The guys have been awesome. The process has been great, results will take care of themselves.”
Here’s video of Kelsey’s response:
Louisville will take on Kentucky on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. ET in Lexington.
