Paul Finebaum blasts Oklahoma for Michigan loss: ‘The Big Ten absolutely sucks at football’
The Oklahoma Sooners fell flat in their Week 2 game against the Michigan Wolverines. Brent Venables‘ team disappointed fans across the country in its 17-10 loss. One of those fans was Paul Finebaum, who still hasn’t gotten over the Sooners’ poor showing.
During the Week 3 episode of SEC Nation, Finebaum ripped Oklahoma for losing to Michigan. He believes a Sooner victory would have firmly eliminated the Big Ten from conversations about it being the best conference in college football.
“Oklahoma, you let everyone down,” Finebaum said. “The Big Ten absolutely sucks at football this year. They are horrible… I spent the whole offseason embarrassing myself, saying ‘The Big Ten’s the best conference’… if Oklahoma had done what they should have done, we would be dancing on the Big Ten’s grave! You screwed up, Oklahoma! I’m mad!”

Finebaum was so upset with the Sooners that he suggested the SEC give Auburn credit for beating Oklahoma in Norman last season. On Sept. 20, 2025, officials botched rulings on a Tiger defensive touchdown and a Sooner offensive score in Oklahoma’s 24-17 win. The errors kept Auburn from prevailing over the Sooners for the first time in school history.
While the Tigers would love to have that win, their priorities have long since shifted. The only thing Auburn cares about today is defeating Florida at 7:00 p.m. E.T. (ESPN).
