Paul Finebaum caller, Alabama fan, goes on lengthy rant, compares Vanderbilt loss to cheating spouse
Paul Finebaum’s show has always been known for entertaining calls from SEC fans.
Well, naturally, callers had plenty of interesting things to say after Week 6 saw Alabama and Tennessee both suffer major upset losses.
One regular caller, an Alabama fan named Legend, took it a step further. He went off on Alabama and Kalen DeBoer, declaring that “Alabama doesn’t lose to Vandy.”
“Bill Curry didn’t lose to Vandy. Mike DuBose didn’t lose to Vandy. Mike Shula didn’t lose to Vandy,” Legend ranted. “Forty years. You (DeBoer) have been here 4 weeks and you already lost to Vandy. Strike friggin’ one dude, strike friggin’ one.”
The 40 years reference is not an exaggeration. Week 6’s 40-35 victory was Vanderbilt’s 1st win over Alabama since 1984.
However, Legend wasn’t done with his rant just yet. He wen on, and had an interesting analogy for the team’s loss.
“You know what this is equivalent to? This is equivalent to coming home and finding your wife in bed with the neighbor. That is what this (loss) is equivalent to,” he continued. “You may stay with her for the kids’ sake, but you can never trust the woman again. The same thing is true with Coach DeBoer.”
It’s safe to say that Alabama fans won’t be forgetting this loss any time soon.
For the first time in decades, the Tide were simply outplayed by the Commodores. Vanderbilt outgained Alabama, had fewer turnovers, and committed fewer penalties.
DeBoer will get a chance to win some fans back in Week 7 when the Tide take on South Carolina. If the Tide take care of business, most fans will likely go back to thinking about the College Football Playoff.
If the team suffers another bad loss, however, expect to hear a similar rant from Legend once again.
