If there’s one thing that everyone knows about Deion Sanders, it’s just how outspoken he is. He’s had several qualms throughout his career with the media and reporters, including ESPN’s own Paul Finebaum.
Sanders recently referred to Finebaum as “a dying breed” who was attempting to stay relevant.
This was in response to Finebaum calling out Sanders’ move to not allow Denver Post reporter Sean Keeler to ask questions, saying that it was due to derogatory nicknames Keeler used in regard to Sanders. There is a clause in Sanders’ contract that permits this action by Coach Prime.
“How can we be irrelevant and you’re talking about me? Every time I turn around, somebody’s sending me a quote that you’re talking about me,” Sanders said on a podcast with RGIII. “But refused to be drawn into a back-and-forth exchange, recognizing the pundit’s efforts to remain relevant in a changing media landscape.”
Finebaum had his own response.

“He did say something that I do agree with. He called me a ‘dying breed’ in the profession, which I’m proud of,” proclaimed Finebaum. “Because I really do believe that the media should be treated with respect and not have selective persecution like he is using out there.”
There’s no denying the media landscape truly is changing, but Sanders himself still stands out as bickering more with the media than perhaps any other coach active in college football.
