Paul Finebaum slams the door shut on Alabama’s longtime dynasty

It was not long ago that Alabama was seen as the team destined for a national title every year. But recent history has shown that the Crimson Tide are truly falling.
That’s unless Kalen DeBoer, the team’s new head coach taking the throne that Nick Saban formerly held, restores them to their former glory in the dawn of a new era.
Many are skeptical of that happening, at least immediately, as Alabama presents itself as a potentially 8-4 or 9-3 team. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum is among them.
“I would declare the Alabama dynasty done,” Finebaum said. “It was done before (Nick) Saban left. It’s really done now that DeBoer is there.”

Alabama went 12-2 overall last season with the expectations of winning it all but fell short as it was ultimately Michigan who walked away with the natty. Alabama returns some solid pieces ahead of the 2024 season, but with the amount of shakeup within the Southeastern Conference and football as a whole, anything could happen as it is indeed Georgia that looks to be the new college football dynasty.
It will be interesting to watch how Alabama performs with quarterback Jalen Milroe expected to be one of the best players in the nation this year.
