Penn State will be down its backup quarterback as it begins its College Football Playoff run.
Beau Pribula took to social media to announce that he is entering the transfer portal and leaving the team. Pribula called out the overlap of the College Football Playoff calendar with the undergraduate window for portal entry in his post.
Growing up in Pennsylvania, it has always been a dream of mine to play football for Penn State. Wearing the blue & white these last 3 years has brought me some of the greatest moments of my life.
“The current NCAA post-season model creates a challenge for student-athletes. The overlapping CFB playoff & transfer portal timeline has forced me into an impossible decision. After speaking at length with my family and coaches, it is with a heavy heart that l announce my intentions to enter the transfer portal and depart from the team to explore opportunities elsewhere.
“I want to thank the coaches, my teammates, the fanbase, and everyone else who has supported me along this journey. For the rest of my life, I stand proud as a Penn State graduate and letterman.
Out of Central York (Pennsylvania) High School, Pribula has been at PSU since 2022. This season, he rushed 56 times for 329 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was 11-of-21 passing for 4 touchdowns.
The Nittany Lions are the 6-seed in the CFP bracket and host 11-seed SMU on Saturday night in a Playoff White Out game.
