Perry Orth will start at quarterback for South Carolina on Saturday at No. 7 LSU, a source close to the team confirmed Thursday.
Orth, a junior, served as a backup to Lorenzo Nunez last week and completed 2 of 5 passes in relief during the Gamecocks’ 24-10 loss at Missouri.
Saturday will be Orth’s second career start. He struggled in his first start Sept. 19 at Georgia, where he alternated series — and occasionally snaps — with Nunez.
Nunez started the following two games but was ineffective against Missouri, going 15-for-24 with three interceptions.
