A titanic clash is looming between Pete Golding‘s Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin‘s LSU Tigers in Oxford this weekend. The matchup comes less than a year after Kiffin left the Rebels before the start of the College Football Playoff, choosing to start new with LSU.

Obviously, Kiffin’s decision made a lot of folks in Oxford, Mississippi very unhappy.

With that in mind, and Ole Miss reporter asked Golding on Monday what his message would be to Ole Miss fans heading into Week 3’s highly anticipated battle.

Here’s what Golding had to say:

“What this place has always been about, and why so many people love coming here and respect this place is because of the people that are here and how they make them feel when they come here,” Golding said. “… When you come here and you meet Ole Miss alumni and all that, they’re so respectful, they’re appreciative, they’re very welcoming… Let’s not lose that over a game or a person or anything else like that. There’s nothing wrong with being competitive and being in the moment… at the end of the day, don’t lose what we’ve created.”

And here’s Golding’s full answer.

The Rebels are set to host the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
