Pete Rose addresses Alabama football on dangers of gambling as an athlete

Pete Rose, the legendary baseball player, travelled to Tuscaloosa at the behest of Nick Saban to lecture the Alabama football team on the dangers of gambling.

Pete Rose is well-known for receiving a lifetime ban from the MLB for gambling on games as a player and manager. The ban overshadows what would assuredly be a Hall of Fame career otherwise.

Saban pulled out all the stops for Rose, sending Alabama’s private jet to Houston.

Pete Rose is probably the best person to speak about the dangers of gambling. The former Cincinnati Red has lost countless opportunities thanks to his gambling problem.

Saban had spoken previously about bringing in guest speakers to lecture the team about off-the-field issues ahead of the 2023 season. Notably, Calvin Ridley and Jameson Williams, two former Alabama wide receivers, have been suspended by the NFL for gambling.
