Peter Burns, Chris Doering engage in spirited argument over whether Alabama is elite

After jumping out to a 21-3 1st-quarter lead on the road at Florida this past Saturday, No. 1 Alabama looked mortal, at least by Alabama standards, for the remainder of the game.
While the Crimson Tide was able to hang on for the 31-29 victory, the days that have followed have featured plenty of debate about whether Alabama is the team to beat in 2021.
Among those who addressed that topic were SEC analysts Peter Burns and Chris Doering, who got into a heated exchange Wednesday about the Crimson Tide on the ‘SEC This Morning’ radio show.
At one point, when Doering suggested that Alabama would finish the season something along the lines of 10-2, Burns quickly responded, “Don’t say something stupid that you’re going to regret.”
Doering later fired back after Burns said Alabama was “absolutely elite” by saying, “You’re a clown if you think this team is elite.”
Which analyst is right?
Only time will tell, but this will likely be an ongoing debate among college football observers until Nick Saban’s team looks truly dominant against a top opponent.
