HOOVER, Ala. — Not a lot of people in the game of football have a résumé as long and distinguinshed as Phil Savage.
A former coach and executive in the NFL, Savage is also the director of the Senior Bowl. On Saturdays in the fall, he’s the color analyst for Alabama’s radio broadcast alongside play-by-play man Eli Gold.
Savage was kind enough to spend some time with us last month at the Wynfrey Hotel to get a sneak peek at his new book, “4th and Goal Every Day: Alabama’s Relentless Pursuit of Perfection,” which hits shelves Aug. 29. Few people know Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban better than he does, as well as the inner workings of the ‘Bama program.
