The Philadelphia Eagles announced Wednesday that rookie defensive lineman Jordan Davis would be placed on injured reserve after suffering a high ankle sprain earlier this season. He will miss the next 4 games (at least) as Philadelphia looks to remain undefeated.

Drafted 13th overall out of Georgia this past April, Davis has been a staple of the Eagles’ front 7 this season. In 7 games, he’s registered 14 tackles, 6 pressures, and a tackle for loss. Davis has also played in at least 25% of defensive snaps in each outing.

The Eagles currently possess one of the top defenses in the league entering the halfway point of the season. Philadelphia ranks 4th in total defense (298.1 yards per game), 4th in scoring (16.9 points per game), and leads the NFL in takeaway differential (+14). The Eagles also are tied for the 2nd-most interceptions (10) and rank 4th in fumble recoveries (6).

Davis played 4 seasons in Athens before electing to go pro. In 41 career games, he recorded 90 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. The 6-6, 360-pound defender was named a unanimous All-American in 2021 and was a member of the Bulldogs’ national championship roster.
