As the NFL preseason continues, we will start to see teams shed some of their players, and unfortunately, former Auburn safety Stephen Roberts was one of the early casualties of roster cuts.
The former Auburn standout was looking to make the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted rookie, but on Saturday afternoon it was announced that Roberts had been placed on waivers.
Roberts injured his ankle and left the field on a cart in the second preseason game against the New England Patriots on Aug. 16, and did not play in Thursday’s game agains the Cleveland Browns.
Last season at Auburn, Roberts recorded 50 total tackles and one forced fumble on the way to the Tigers’ SEC West title.
Jordan Dajani covers SEC football for Saturday Down South and is a University of Tennessee graduate. He also has experience working in the NBA and with ESPN.
