Photo: Suspected arsonist in Toomer’s Corner incident has been identified, mugshot released
At the conclusion of the Auburn victory over LSU, an individual was filmed lighting a tree on fire at the famed Toomer’s Corner location.
Via a report from The Auburn Plainsman, a 29-year-old man named Jochen Wiest has been arrested and taken into custody.
Wiest was detained earlier on an unrelated charge of public intoxication. This second charge has been deemed as “desecration of a venerable object,” according to the police.

Wiest is said to have no affiliation with the university — although there’s no word on whether he is indeed a fan of LSU (or Alabama).
