‘Spell check’ is a tool utilized each and every day — particularly for those professions requiring a frequency of the written word.
Any sort of egregious error instantly attacks the credibility of the said publication. It’s simply not a good look — no matter how you slice it.
During Wednesday’s San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, ESPN fell victim to a spelling snafu:

BYU is currently taking on Wyoming* at Qualcomm Stadium. Apparently, one ESPN employee failed to do a double-check before sending in this graphic for millions of people to see.
