During Friday evening’s contest between Baylor and Rice, there was a familiar face sitting in the stands in Houston: former head coach Art Briles.

Briles took the program to unprecedented heights during his eight years at the helm of the program — winning 99 games total — as well as accruing four seasons with double-digit win totals.
However, a mass scandal involving the inability to take action over alleged rapes and assaults committed by football players led to the firing of Briles this past May.
The current football team is comprised solely of players brought to the team by its former head coach. Briles certainly still has strong ties to both the personnel and program, and undoubtedly has an interest in the success of the team in 2016.
