Teddy and Susan Everett, the parents of former Vanderbilt pitcher Donny Everett, were honored on the field before the Commodores game last Saturday after their son drowned June 2.

Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin, who was also present during the ceremony, thanked the football team for recognizing the Everetts.

The university also announced the Donny Everett Scholarship, and the Commodores wore No. 41 (Everett’s number) decals on their helmets as they defeated Middle Tennessee State 47-24.

Everett drowned the day before Vanderbilt started NCAA Regional action. Corbin retired the freshman’s number following his death.
