“Hey, I have one question for y’all …. how bout them Dawgs?”

That is the way Mississippi State coach Joe Moorhead opened up his locker room speech after the Bulldogs dropped Kentucky, 28-13, in their SEC opener on Saturday night in Starkville.

The Bulldogs, coming off a loss to Kansas State and depending on backup quarterback Garrett Shrader, put together a complete performance against Mark Stoops’ team, something Moorhead was proud of from his side.

“We said it was going to take three things to win this game: poise, passion and precision,” Moorhead said. “We did that today, one play at a time for 60 minutes … I’ll go to war with this frigging team seven days a week, 24 hours a day.”

Shrader, in relief of Tommy Stevens, performed well, completing 17-of-22 passes for 180 yards while also rushing for 125 more on just 11 rushes. Things will get tougher for Shrader and the Bulldogs this week as they travel to Jordan-Hare Stadium to battle an Auburn defense that is one of the tops in the nation.

While the task will be tough, no one can watch this Moorhead speech without wanting to put on some pads and deliver some hits for the Dawgs
