The Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department announced Wednesday that they have made an arrest in the shooting of former Alabama and current Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr.

In a statement released by the department, the D.C. Police announced Wednesday that a 17-year-old male (who was 16 at the time of the offense) was charged with assault with an intent to rob while armed with a lethal weapon (gun). Robinson was shot twice in the leg on Aug. 28 as the victim of an attempted carjacking.

Robinson was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and made a full recovery. He officially made his NFL debut on Oct. 9 against the Tennessee Titans after missing the first 4 games.

A 2022 third-round draft pick, Robinson spent 5 seasons at Alabama before electing to go pro. Primarily serving as Najee Harris’ backup, Robinson became a featured piece of the Crimson Tide’s offense in 2020 when he rushed for 483 yards and 6 touchdowns off 96 carries.

A year later, Robinson became the lead back for Alabama and didn’t disappoint. He rushed 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns while averaging 5 yards per carry. For his efforts, he was named a 1st-team All-SEC member and helped the Tide return to the national title game against Georgia.

Robinson has rushed for 175 yards and 1 touchdown in 4 games. He currently is averaging 3.2 yards per carry on 54 attempts.
