Could this be the weekend we begin to some shakeup around college football? Who knows. We do know that there are sure to be attention-grabbing headlines.

So what will the headlines be come Monday morning?

Parity in the SEC: Sure, the West is better, but I don’t see any team separating itself as the clear-cut favorite this weekend. Mississippi State and LSU face in a divisional showdown, while Florida and Alabama face off in an interdivisional matchup. Don’t be surprised to see tight games throughout in each, and we’ve already seen Auburn pass a difficult test against Kansas State on the road Thursday night.

Big showdown set up in JerryWorld: Arkansas faces Northern Illinois this weekend and Texas A&M faces SMU. Wins by each squad will set up a very intriguing showdown between a 3-1 Arkansas and a 4-0 Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Arkansas proved last weekend that it is capable of beating some very good teams with its running game. Texas A&M is primed to light up SEC West opponents which sets up a very good game next weekend.

Play somebody already: Is it me, or does it feel like it’s taking forever to get into the bulk of conference play? We likely won’t learn too much about many SEC teams this week, as many of them have inferior foes yet again. Georgia plays Troy, Missouri plays Indiana along with Arkansas’ and Texas A&M’s opponents. I’m ready for SEC play, when teams must prepare and play their best week after week.

Two teams in? Auburn passed its test on Thursday night at Kansas State and there are three conference games on the docket this weekend with Florida visiting Alabama, Mississippi State taking on LSU and South Carolina facing off with Vanderbilt. With the Big 10 virtually out of the race with the exception Michigan State possibly, and a big ACC game in Tallahassee between Florida State and Clemson, the SEC could be in a beautiful spot by the end of the weekend in terms of the CFP picture.
