Make CFB great again: President Trump joins the #WeWantToPlay movement

College football players united late Sunday night with the #WeWantToPlay movement, and it became the top-trending hashtag in America.
Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, Ohio State’s Justin Fields, Alabama’s Najee Harris and others met via Zoom Sunday night to make a last-ditch effort to save the college football season. The result was a graphic shared by Lawrence late Sunday night, and it could have helped save a college football season for some conferences.
On Monday morning, reports that the Big Ten was canceling the football season were rampant, and the Pac-12 is expected to make the same decision. That would leave the SEC, ACC and Big 12 to hopefully unite to have some sort of season, assuming the other 2 cancel. The SEC is standing firm with an intent to play the season, but it will likely need some help from the other 2.
The players #WeWantToPlay movement gave a glimmer of hope that the college football season could happen. Multiple administrators, coaches and politicians have backed the players’ desire to participate in the 2020 season, despite COVID-19 concerns.
However, the biggest backing of all came Monday afternoon when President Donald Trump endorsed the #WeWantToPlay movement.

The players could ultimately help save the season, but even the players would need help from decision-makers. President Trump’s endorsement is a big one for the sport.
