Pro Football Focus ranks SEC’s top five defenders entering Week 7
By Nick Krueger
Published:
The SEC tends to churn out defensive talent year after year and 2018 has proven to be no different to date.
It’s difficult to narrow in on just who is the best in the conference, but Pro Football Focus has done just that before teams take the field Saturday for Week 7.
The site graded the top 5 SEC defensive players headed into the week:
- Alabama DL Quinnen Williams
- Alabama S Deionte Thompson
- Florida S Brad Steward Jr.
- Georgia DB Deandre Baker
- Kentucky LB Josh Allen
Alabama has the top two players on the list for a reason. The Crimson Tide have given up an average of less than 200 passing yards per game and Williams has contributed 22 tackles including 5.5 for loss.
Baker has also given the Georgia defense a boost with two interceptions and faces a tough test Saturday in LSU.
These players have certainly proved themselves through the first six weeks and will likely have a significant impact on their teams moving forward.
