A QB solution? Watch UF’s Austin Appleby’s beautiful TD pass

Austin Appleby is stepping up in Florida’s game against South Carolina.

The graduate transfer QB threw a beautiful pass to Ahmad Fullwood for an 18-yard touchdown, which extended the Gators’ lead to 14-0 in the second quarter.

Appleby had previously connected with C’yontai Lewis on a 6-yard touchdown pass on Florida’s first offensive possession. The quarterback has thrown only one incompletion on 12 passing attempts, as well as 147 yards through two quarters.

Appleby started in place of injured quarterback Luke Del Rio, who was ruled out by coach Jim McElwain earlier this week. Many speculated whether the graduate transfer would get another opportunity as Florida’s starter, as he did in Del Rio’s absence earlier in the season, or whether McElwain would opt for one of his two freshmen quarterbacks.

Perhaps Appleby has secured his spot for the remainder of the season.
