Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns are in business.
Texas, which has leaned on its defense across the past few quarters following an early Ohio State score, has finally garnered some offense at the Cotton Bowl. Ewers found running back Jaydon Blue in the end zone just before the end of the first half, knotting the score at 7 with one play. For the time being.
Here’s a look at the touchdown connection to tie it:
Unfortunately for Texas, this tie didn’t last for long. On the first play of the ensuing drive, Will Howard found TreVeyon Henderson on a simple screen. Henderson took the rock the distance, giving his team a 14-7 lead heading into the halftime. And to rub salt on the wound, Ohio State will get the ball after the halftime break.
This second half is going to be a fun one, folks. Texas, though struggling on offense across the remainder of the first half, might have found enough momentum to make this a game in the final 30 minutes. At the very least , it doesn’t look like Ohio State is going to run away with this one like they did against Oregon and Tennessee.
Ewers is up to 9/18 passing with 115 yards and a touchdown. Ohio State leads, 14-7.
