Quinn Ewers does not appear to be facing a long-term absence.
On Sunday, Texas insider Anwar Richardson provided an update on the status of the Longhorn QB, who left the team’s win over UTSA with multiple strains Saturday.
Richardson shared that Ewers talked to doctors on Sunday and is being considered “week-to-week” as of now. He suffered both an oblique and an abdominal strain according to Steve Sarkisian.
Ewers left during the second quarter of UT’s 56-7 rout of the Roadrunners. He completed 14-of-16 passes for 185 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception before leaving the game.
Freshman quarterback Arch Manning stepped up in relief, throwing for 223 yards and accounting for five total touchdowns in an all-around performance.
The Longhorns host Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday before welcoming Mississippi State to Austin for the program’s first conference game in the SEC. Then, UT has a bye week before it heads to Dallas for the annual date with Oklahoma. The home bout with Georgia follows, meaning that the Longhorns have 3 weeks before the SEC slate truly begins to heat up.
