Former Alabama receiver Amari Cooper is going to Hawaii.
The NFL named the Oakland Raiders rookie phenom to the AFC’s Pro Bowl roster on Thursday. The game will be played at Honolulu’s Aloha Stadium on Jan. 31.
As a rookie to make the Pro Bowl, Cooper is joining some popular names in the franchise’s illustrious history when it comes to accomplishing that feat.
According to the Raiders’ official site, he’s only the sixth rookie in team history to do so along with Charles Woodson (1998), Tim Brown (1988), Marcus Allen (1982), Ray Guy (1973) and Raymond Chester (1970).
Cooper finished ahead of all NFL rookies in virtually every receiving category by recording 72 receptions for 1,070 yards (14.9 yards per catch) and 6 touchdowns in 2015.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder set the franchise rookie record for receiving yards back in Week 12 at the Tennessee Titans by surpassing James Jett’s mark of 771 in 1993. His aforementioned receptions total (72) and number of 100-yard games (five) are also team records.
Cooper was selected fourth overall by the Raiders in last year’s NFL Draft.
