Recruit pranks his commitment, pledges to his high school team over LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss

Four-star Plaquemine, La., safety prospect Todd Harris pulled quite the recruitment prank Sunday during a commitment ceremony held at his high school. After narrowing his final choices down to heavy LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss, Harris announced his commitment to… his Plaquemine high school team.
“I’m committed to Plaquemine,” Harris said during the ceremony, as he put on his high school’s hat and revealed the jersey underneath his jacket. The three SEC schools were also represented at the ceremony, each having a hat placed in front of Harris. Eventually Harris decided to spurn them all for his high school squad.

The reactions to the prank vary depending on who you ask. Some recruiting analyst seem to be quite put off by the stunt:

Putting so much energy and attention toward the decisions of young high school players was bound to eventually lead to this type of pranking from recruits. Don’t be surprised if this becomes a normal thing from elite prospects in the world of college football recruiting.
Considering Harris is rated as a Top 100 overall prospect, a Top 10 safety and the No. 3 recruit from the state of Louisiana – according to 247Sports, stunts like these are not likely to have many schools stop recruiting them. Until they sign their letter of intent, the power in these relationships belong in the recruit’s hands, not the other way around.
