Believe it or not, Arkansas may be turning into the SEC’s QBU.
After Brandon Allen’s incredible senior season, in which the Razorback quarterback threw for 3,440 yards, 30 touchdowns and only eight interceptions, the team is poised to reload under center behind his brother Austin. The younger Allen, a junior this season, has yet to prove his value on the football field but he did come to Fayetteville as a four-star recruit out of high school.
For all of the vitriol thrown at Brandon’s feet during his college career, he flourished last season under first-year offensive coordinator Dan Enos. There’s little reason to doubt Austin cannot do the same with the plethora of receivers and tight ends returning for Arkansas this year.
Behind Allen sit three more former four-star quarterback recruits in sophomore Rafe Peavey, redshirt freshman Ty Storey and redshirt freshman Ricky Town. One prospect that could soon be added to the list is top 2018 prospect Allan Walters.
Walters is rated as the nation’s No. 7 quarterback prospect for 2018 by 247Sports and according to Whole Hog Sports, plans to visit Fayetteville with his family for a multiple day trip in August.
Of course if the Razorbacks fail to land the commitment of Walters, in-state prospect Connor Noland, also a four-star prospect for 2018 according to 247Sports, could be yet another touted quarterback prospect ready to add his name to the impressive list in Fayetteville.
For all the trouble Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M seem to have finding a starting quarterback, that’s one problem Arkansas may not have for the foreseeable future.
