Blake Sims has found a home in the NFL — just not at his usual position.
The Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday signed the former Alabama quarterback to their practice squad as a running back.

Sims had reportedly been working out at running back for NFL teams after going undrafted following his senior season, during which he helped Alabama reach the inaugural College Football Playoff. The 6-foot, 212-pounder had reportedly worked out for the Falcons last Friday after Tampa Bay didn’t extend him an offer after a similar workout.
Sims threw for a Crimson Tide-record 3,487 yards and rushed for another 350 while accumulating 35 total touchdowns in 2014.
“I think that Blake’s athleticism, his production (in 2014), are things that people are going to have to take into account,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said after Sims’ Pro Day. “There are more and more offenses that people are willing to utilize a guy like him. So I do think Blake has a lot to offer a team, and I do think he’s going to get an opportunity with someone.”
The Falcons just so happened to be the team to give Sims that opportunity.
