If you can’t beat them, join them.

That seems to be the theme SEC schools are running with following the news of satellite camps once again being sanctioned by the NCAA. According to SEC Country, Auburn has begun to look into three specific recruiting hotbeds to hold satellite camps of their own: Atlanta, Tampa and Miami.

Considering the Tigers close proximity to each location — Auburn is located only 108 miles from Atlanta, 437 miles from Tampa and 642 miles from Miami — making the short trek to each city could prove to be the difference is swaying any out of state prospects and their families on the idea of playing for the Tigers.

Auburn currently has 36 players on its roster from Georgia and 18 players from the state of Florida.

Obviously the Tigers already recruit those areas pretty hard already and now will be able to come to the prospect’s backyard first before ever extending an offer to the Auburn campus. It should be interesting to see if these camps help trend the Tigers’ out-of-state numbers up even more in the near future.
