Report: Brent Musburger flying solo in the broadcasting booth tonight

Broadcasting legend Brent Musburger will reportedly call the first half of the Ole Miss-Texas A&M matchup on SEC Network solo in honor of winning the Vin Scully Sports Lifetime Achievement Award this week, according to Sports Illustrated‘s Richard Deitsch.

SEC Network‘s Steve Ackels confirmed color commentator Jesse Palmer will work as a field analyst during the first two quarters of Saturday’s game before joining Musburger in the booth after halftime.

Scully, who retired after the 2016 regular season, served as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ solo play-by-play man for decades. Musburger began his play-by-play career with CBS Sports in 1973 before joining ABC Sports and ESPN in 1990.
He has called seven BCS National Championship games: 2000, 2004, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Musburger and Palmer have served as SEC Network‘s lead game commentators since its launch in 2014.
