Tennessee insider John Brice turned a lot of heads with just 140 characters on Saturday evening.
Brice is a former full-time journalist who once covered the Volunteers extensively. He is still well-connected on what’s going on inside the Tennessee football program.
Brice dropped a bombshell on Saturday that Tennessee head coach Butch Jones’ fate will not be impacted by the Vols’ game against Southern Miss, which is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday on the SEC Network.
There will certainly be a lot of disgruntled UT fans with that news breaking. Tennessee is 3-5 on the season, with all of those losses coming against the SEC. The Vols have lost four in a row.
The tweet from Brice also acknowledged that defensive lineman Jonathan Kongbo will not play against Southern Miss:
Per folks in the @Vol_Football program, @Kongbo_1 will not play tonight due to suspension. Fate of @UTCoachJones no impact by this game.
