Report: College GameDay may not visit Jacksonville for Florida-Georgia

With a big matchup between rivals Georgia and Florida coming up next week in Jacksonville with both SEC and national title implications on the line, it wouldn’t be that surprising to see ESPN’s College GameDay set up shop  in the northern Florida city and broadcast outside of TIAA Bank Field.

It seems that another Southeastern location is on the minds of the show though.

In a tweet sent out on Monday, analyst Kirk Herbstreit acknowledged that he would love to go to Memphis and shoot the show live from there before the Conference USA battle between the Memphis Tigers and SMU Mustangs. This was backed up by a report by a Memphis sports writer.

That would be an interesting selection but it wouldn’t be the first time the show has thought outside the box. This week they will broadcast from Brookings, SD as South Dakota State hosts rival North Dakota State in a FCS game.

Both GameDay and SEC Nation were on hand for the Georgia-Florida game last season. One outlying factor for show deciding to go elsewhere, though, is the fact that they have already visited both schools this season: Georgia ahead of Notre Dame game and Florida before Auburn.
